The joy of travelling: How it makes you happier
Why you should travel more often
It’s a regular morning that finds us waking up with a jolt, followed by a hasty dress up and parallelly gobbling the breakfast. Then rushing to the workplace to work your guts out, and finally come back home after a tiresome day.
This melodrama goes on every day and at some point of time we all get weary and bored of this routine. One craves for a break from life, to cheer up and rejuvenate oneself.
Indisputably travelling would be the answer, to break the monotony of life and work. It’s a best therapy one can have. In fact, according to a survey, out of the several ways in which one could spend his money, it was found that most of them nowadays spend it on travelling. And, why not? Investment in travel is an investment in yourself.
Travel sequences shown in movies also have their share in changing people’s perspective towards travelling.
There’s a lot one could gain through travelling. All of us are so absorbed in our daily lives, that we hardly care about what’s going on outside. Travelling helps us broaden our perspective towards the world. It makes us realize that we are not the only star in the sky. We realize how tiny we and our problems are.
One could probably learn the best lessons of their life in their travel times. Now when we say travelling, it can be to any place, within the state or country abroad too. Whatever be the place, it doesn’t limit you to the knowledge you can gain, to the things you could experience and the memories you could make.
There are many who even quit their work to pursue their wanderlust and meet new people around the world.
Sounds interesting, right?
Today, just at one tap, we can communicate with people living in any part of the world. We can watch all the unexplored beauties of nature live on our mobiles or TV screens. But does it give us the joy of experiencing something in real? Certainly not. One could hardly believe a fact to be true unless one sees it and travelling gives you a sure touch of reality. Instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are is more exciting.
The world’s a big place to explore and find something new. There are places one can find peace and serenity and places which would lead to an immediate adrenaline rush!
Everything finally sums up to an experience in our travel diaries. On our journey, we reach new places; meet new people with different traditions and cultures. We get to know the lifestyle and living habits of the natives. Wherever you go, it becomes a part of you somehow. And yes, for all the food lovers out there, we get to taste different authentic cuisines too.
And when it comes to travelling abroad, one opens up to broader view of the world. We realize how different we are from others in many ways, but there’s something that keeps us all connected.
And in this journey, one could meet marvelous people along the way and make connections that last a lifetime. You explore the world outside, and it helps you grow independent and carry yourself with ease. One loses sight of the homely comforts and tries to be more adventurous, trying to find new things and places.
Travelling is never a matter of money, and it’s the only thing you buy that makes you richer! Jawaharlal Nehru once said —
There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.
One could greatly benefit from travelling if only he wishes to have it whole heartedly. It’s time when one could ponder and wonder about the wonderful creations of God.
One usually mistakes travelling for sight-seeing. It is something more than just visiting places; it’s a change that goes on deep and permanent in the ideas of living. And once somebody sets off for a travel, it’s never the same person returning. He is much conscious and a better person than before.
Travelling is an amazing experience one can have, because, while he travels to places, he is not what he is when at home or workplace or any regular place for that matter.
It seems like one enters a new planet with everybody and everything new to him and he is no different or special from others. It’s a way to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost everything is so unfamiliar to us.
There’s a quote that says —
The world is a book and those who do not travel, read only one page.
There is a lot one can learn in this world not alone from books but from experiencing and living it in reality as well. Someone once said —
Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have travelled
Life is a lesson and experience is the best teacher. One can remember better if he sees it and learns while living it. Of all the books in the world, the best stories are found between the pages of a passport. So travel. Travel as much as you can, as far as it can be and as long as you can.
Life is not meant to be lived in one place. If it was so, then we’d have roots instead of feet, wouldn’t we? Once a year go to some place you’ve never been before. Stuff your eyes with wonder, live as if you’d drop dead in ten seconds. See the world, it’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories.
Unravel yourself, travel the world, and fill your suitcase with treasures. They all have a story that becomes a memory for life!
