When was the last time you had a head ache and took tablets to alleviate it?

OR

When was the last time you sat in the window seat without earphones plugged in?

Can’t recall, right?

Music has become a part and parcel of our lives. It’s hard to imagine our lives without it. We are all smart enough to tell that there is nothing called magic in reality, but the effect that music has on us is truly magical.

How wonderful is it that it can change the mood of a person within minutes. It holds the power to pull people out of their deepest pains, strongest mental illnesses and badly upset minds. It has this special ability to affect our minds and manipulate it, which the greatest of magicians could probably ever do.

Words make you think, music makes you feel it.

Whether you are depressed and feeling low, or on cloud 9 and partying, music has a sure role to play in every stage of life. It makes the atmosphere for any occasion. From bhajans to parties, from birthdays to mourning ceremonies, music is everywhere.

Though we all are not great singers, we wouldn’t hesitate to become one in our bathrooms. It is very instinctive to hum the song when our favorite tune plays. It has the power to speed up your heartbeats or slow down your breathing. Right from a toddler to the oldest of the people, anyone can feel the music.

Your foot starts tapping as your body sways from side to side to the beats.

Who hasn’t felt the bass beating in your chest at concerts or musical nights?

How many times have you heard a song and then immediately you go back to the place you first heard it or shared it with someone?

A musical melody can trigger thoughts and memories of almost anyone and anything. Only a few notes of music can form a soulful melody that could bring back memories and make you cry or give you some of the best feelings in the world.

Music has its own magic when it comes to curing a person. It has this healing power that can take people out of themselves for a period of time. Music can do wonders for people living in depression. It dwindles the pain, lifts your mood, reduces anxiety and stress and makes you feel much better.

Maybe that’s the reason why music apps have their place in the world’s top ten applications.

True though.

It’s nearly impossible to find someone who doesn’t feel a strong connection to music. Sometimes you are frustrated and don’t understand what could be the cure for it. Well, you may find the solution right in your ipod. Music therefore sometimes, is the best medicine for the heart and soul. William James once said —

I don’t sing because I’m happy; I’m happy because I sing.

Research has proven that our brain releases dopamine when we listen to the music we like. So the next time you need an emotional boost, listen to your favorite tunes for a while. That is all that it takes to get a natural high. The best thing about music is that it doesn’t need a language in particular.

It is enough of an expression that it doesn’t really matter what the words are or what language it is in. it’s a magical harmonic connection between all human beings.

And we all love music, don’t we?

Once you plug in your ear phones and lean back to enjoy your favorite tunes, you enter a different world as a whole.

It connects you emotionally and could even let tears rolling down your cheeks at times. It would be a meaningless noise unless it touches a receiving mind. At times you are lost and feel very low. But that shouldn’t let you down, simply open your music app and play your favorite playlist and let the music flow into you.

Music sometimes energizes you like no other energy drink.

Need motivation to do a task? Music is the answer. Some of the tracks would not let you sit still in your chair and you just can’t resist dancing to the beats. Music also has its share in helping treat addiction and sometimes preventing suicides too.

The best example is Darryl McDaniels from the American hip hop group Run DMC. There was a time when Darryl fell into a negative downward spiral and at a point of time was mentally prepared to commit a suicide. He was determined to take that step when one day, he happened to listen to a song on the radio. It was Sarah McLachlan’s song “Angel”.

That song has changed his idea of death. After listening to such true stories, we tend to believe in miracles and the magic what music can do.

Not just this, did you know that doctors have a separate playlist for the different types of surgery!

Music surely will help to boost us to reach our goals with even more courage and determination. Music doesn’t always refer to film songs or those dealing with lyrics; it doesn’t have any bounds or limitations.

Whatever be the type, it will always be your companion.

So turn up the volume, close your eyes and let the music take over your soul!
